Dhingana looks to expand its Indian music streaming success

Dhingana, an Indian on-demand music company, has launched an advertising platform to help brands reach the Indian population around the world. The company has also named Gokul Rajaram, Facebook’s product director of advertising and the creator of Google’s AdSense, to its advisory board.

“Dhingana is a leader in on-demand and streaming Bollywood music, and we were looking to be able to provide the best advertising platform for our million users globally,” said Snehal Shinde, CEO of Dhingana. “Our complete brand experience for advertisers allows direct connection to consumers on the right platform.”

Dhingana, launched in 2007, has 11 million users in India. Dhingana is available as an app for iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia devices, as well as an HTML5 Web app. Dhingana has offices in Sunnyvale, Calif., and Pune, India.

Prior to joining Facebook, Rajaram spent five years as the product management director of Google’s AdSense. He also ran a startup, Chai Labs, which was later bought out by Facebook.

“Mobile is making a huge impact in India, so it’s critical to provide an engaging mobile experience,” said Rajaram. “The future of Dhingana is looking bright as the streaming market in India is growing at an unprecedented rate.”

“We’re thrilled to have Gokul on board,” said Swapnil Shinde, COO of Dhingana. “Gokul has extensive experience in creating user-friendly and highly profitable experiences for social and mobile platforms. Gokul’s experience will be invaluable as we expand the service to reach more users.”
